FAQ—PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS

How do I sign up for VoiceSpring service?
Just call or email VoiceSpring. Click here and follow the instructions for submitting your contact information to VoiceSpring. A VoiceSpring representative will contact you about the price and feature advantages of VoiceSpring phone service.
What system or broadband access requirements are there?
VoiceSpring’s primary audience for VoIP phone service are businesses. We find that some businesses, depending on the number of phone lines required, can use their current DSL. Others will need an additional DSL service installed and some will require T-1 bandwidth. If your business requires a T-1 line, VoIP gives you the advantage of switching from a voice to a lower-priced data T-1. In many areas, VoiceSpring can provide data T-1s at a very competitive price.
I already have a phone system—can I use VoiceSpring with it?
Yes! VoiceSpring will seamlessly work with your current phone system, allowing you to use your existing system but at a lower price than you are paying to your current provider of phone service.
Is there any additional equipment I will need to use the service?
Yes. you will need to install an additional router/gateway.
I am outgrowing my phone system. Can VoiceSpring take its place?
Yes! VoiceSpring is the ideal phone system for the fast-growing company. It is flexible and can expand instantly to provide your business with exactly the amount of phone service it needs. Unlike traditional phone systems, our 'Virtual PBX' solution allows you to quickly add lines, phones and features without making a significant capital expenditure.
I am getting ready to open a new office. What can VoiceSpring do for me?
VoiceSpring is all you need! VoiceSpring can provide all the features and functionality of a traditional PBX or Key phone system, but at a small fraction of the cost! Call us for a no-obligation quote. We can review your plans and tell you how much VoiceSpring can save you as compared with other options.
I have multiple offices and my phone bill reflects it! Can you help?
VoiceSpring can save you a tremendous amount of money in connecting and serving multiple offices. Unlike traditional phone service, VoiceSpring is able to treat your geographically-separated offices very much as if they were in one location—even when they are hundreds or thousands of miles apart, on separate coasts, or even in different countries!
Can I dial 911?
In 92% of the United States, VoiceSpring is tested and approved to provide fully compliant 911 emergency services across its VoIP lines. In areas where our e911 testing is not finished, VoiceSpring will provide 911 service through a live call center.
Can I dial 411?
Yes, the same 411 information service that you expect from your phone service is available to your company at a small charge per use.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes, in most cases. The exception to this are very small rural phone companies that are not required to “port” their phone numbers — but in those instances our business customers keep one local phone number that we can automatically forward to other outside phone numbers.
I am planning to work overseas for the next 6 months? Can you provide a VoiceSpring phone that works in other countries?
Yes! In fact, VoiceSpring will provide you with a phone number using an area code from your home area in the U.S. This will make all calls to your home area code free of charge – and allow friends and business associates from you home area code to call you free of charge. We can provide a phone and VoiceSpring phone service for your overseas residence right now. Call VoiceSpring now at 309.282.2900 to set up a plan.

Does VoiceSpring offer phone service for my home?
At this time, VoiceSpring does not offer phone service for your home. Our enterprise-level phone service is designed to provide the greatest value to businesses!
What is VoIP? (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Voice over Internet Protocol (also called VoIP, IP Telephony, Internet telephony, and Broadband Phone) is the routing of voice conversations over the Internet or any other IP-based network. The voice data flows over a general-purpose packet-switched network, instead of traditional dedicated, circuit-switched telephony transmission lines. Protocols used to carry voice signals over the IP network are commonly referred to as Voice over IP or VoIP protocols. They may be viewed as commercial realizations of the experimental Network Voice Protocol (1973) invented for the ARPANET. Voice over IP traffic might be deployed on any IP network, including ones lacking a connection to the rest of the Internet, for instance on a private building-wide LAN.
How does VoIP work?
VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that takes the analog audio signals produced by your telephone, and changes them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet. By sending your phone calls digitally over the Internet, VoIP bypasses the traditional phone company and erases the distinctions between local and long distance, also called “latas,” making all calls “equal” and enabling VoIP phone service suppliers to provide both local and long distance phone service at a flat price.
Like emails and other data that is sent over the Internet, your VoIP digital audio signals are “packetized” before they travel across Internet lines. The efficiency of this process contributes to VoIP’s lower price. It means that — unlike the phone system that uses a single wire for each call — your voice data packets can intermingle with other Internet data packets, while taking the most efficient and fastest route to their destination.
